Why You Must Choose Your Words Carefully

It’s the weekend already and I am pretty sure you have several ways to relax already planned out. You’ll probably want to go to the movies, stores, or just relaxing with friends. Yea everybody wants that – of course All work and no play makes jack a dull boy. (Cliché but very true).
But it’s important you’re mindful of what you say and your choice of words. It doesn’t matter if it’s the weekend or week start. The words you say could do more harm than you ever thought, Yea. Some people quickly say anything, maybe because they’re upset or for whatever reason. They just let it out. I’ll tell you a story!

A farmer insulted his neighbour. Realizing his mistake, he went to the preacher to ask for forgiveness. The preacher told him to take a bag of feathers and drop them in the center of town. The farmer did as he was told. Then the preacher asked him to go and collect the feathers and put them back in the bag. The farmer tried but couldn’t as the feathers had all blown away. When he returned with the empty bag, the preacher said, “The same thing is true about your words. You dropped them rather easily but you cannot retrieve them, so be very careful in choosing your words.”

Choose your words rather very carefully.

Doe Zantamata wrote, words are so very powerful, and we never know what state of mind someone is in at any time. You choose your words, but you cannot choose the affect they will have on people. Always speak out of love. True power does not crush others, but helps them to see their own greatness.

  1. Yes, if only we would all take the time to pause, breathe and think before we speak. I’m reminded of this quote: “If you wouldn’t write it and sign it, don’t say it.” — Earl Wilson
